Organic coffee VS. civet coffee (monkey poop)
Do you like to eat poop? Well if you do, this does not concern you. The world's most expensive coffee these days comes from the Asian Palm Civet which is a monkey. And you thought coffee came from trees? Well, this particular fad of coffee comes from the excrement of the Palm Civet. The process goes like this, the Palm Civet eats the coffee cherries and only partly digests them . Then the coffee farmer comes around and collects the partially digested cherry seeds and uses these to brew coffee. Sound tasty? You can pay up to $350 a pound for this type of coffee and you thought your fancy coffee shop where you have to add your own milk to the coffee was expensive.
What makes Organic coffee organic? To be considered Organic in the US coffee farmers have to use only organic fertilizer. When farmers use organic fertilizer this creates a natural eco-system in which birds find habitat in the trees and in doing so help control the insect population. Another benefit of Organic Coffee is that there are no harmful chemicals absorbed into the beans themselves. Meaning that as a consumer of coffee you won't have any in your cup. Using natural fertilizers helps prevent soil erosion as well as adding nutrients back into the soil. Win-win for mother earth.
It is up to you the consumer to make the choice of which type of coffee you want to put in your mug: poop coffee or organic coffee.

Coffee and Exercise:
Organic coffee
|
Why you should drink coffee before you WOD (workout of the
day). Coffee has some very beneficial aspects for the activate person, more than you
might think. Other than being a "must" for many people first thing in the AM
before they tackle anything, caffeine has been found to help continue to burn
calories for up to three hours post workout at a fifteen percent increase as
compared to that of the placebo per the InternationalJournal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism.
Coffee also has the added benefit of helping you burn fat, yes I said burn fat. Caffeine has been help proven to burn fat at an increase of 10% to 29%. The
reason that many "weight pills" contain caffeine is because it is a
natural fat burner. What better way to get your caffeine is there than through a cup of organic coffee.
Caffeine helps to stimulate the nervous system. In doing so it helps break down the fat cells in the body by turning them into energy.
As with anything that is good for
you the key is to not overdo it. The recommend amount of caffeine to have
is 6 mg per 2.2lbs of body weight. For
example if you weigh 175 you should have 477 mg of caffeine, which is about 20oz
of coffee.
So feel free to drink that coffee before
you work out!

My father is a retired Sergeant of the NYPD, he was in the US Air Force, owner of world famous Goodfella's Brick Oven Pizza and a Chaplain for many years. Not to mention is is a wonderful father!
My father also volunteers for many humanitarian organizations such the Foundation for a Drug Free Worlds which is an organization that educates kids about the harmful effects of drugs in NY. Pictured here with Miss New York at an event to educate NY's young minds.
He now has a small coffee business inspired by his self published novel Routine Patrol which is an entertaining and hilarious account of his true life experiences as a NYPD police officer.
Routine Patrol coffee is made from beans grown in a Colombian rain forest and roasted in small batches to ensure highest quality. Routine Patrol coffee is 100% USDA Organic as well as the flavors.
The newest Routine Patrol item we have come up with is our classic car T-shirt with a Nostalgic Plymouth Fury Police Interceptor. A photo my dad took of the vintage 1969 Police Car.

Benefits of Drinking Coffee and Why to Choose organic
Benefits of Drinking Coffee and Why to Choose organic
Coffee isn't just good for an early morning burst of energy of a mid-day pick me up. More and more research is being done to isolate the benefits o f drinking coffee. Here are some I've found in my own internet research.
1. Coffee can help you burn fat
2. Coffee has many nutrients (like vitamin B2, Magnesium and Potassium as well as others)
3. Coffee might lower the risk of liver disease
4. Coffee makes you more alert and even smarter
5. Coffee may help to prevent diabetes
While the above might not all be perfectly scientifically proven and I invite you to do your own research. #1 and #4 are definitely true for me not that I needed another reason to continue to drink the delicious beverage that is called COFFEE...
Now on the matter o]f organic vs. anything else I cannot stress enough the importance of choosing Organic ALWAYS. You really can't know what kind of chemicals and pesticides are being used to grow the beans where your coffee started. The negative heath risks of ingesting chemicals and pesticides are quite many. And I invite you to look into that in your spare time. YUCK. Can you imagine there are harsh chemicals are in your coffee that are sprayed to KILL insects?!?!?! It's really a no brainer to me!
Our coffee is USDA Certified Organic. It is grown in the rainforests of Columbia and we use all organic flavoring. You really can't go wrong!

Why I Love Coffee
Routine Patrol Coffee Don't Start Your Day Without It |
. . .
cof·fee
ˈkôfē,ˈkäfē/
noun.
Coffee is such a delicious drink. It is really amazing to me how many different ways it can be served; Hot, iced, in a latte, cappuccino, espresso and the list goes on. You can have it really at any time of day and in so many different flavors.
I love to wake up and make a fresh pot of coffee. I love the way coffee tastes so much that I actually prefer it black. Both of my parents have been coffee drinkers my entire life as well as most of my other family members. Even my step-mother who doesn't drink coffee still has to admit how much he loves the smell!
I really never cared what coffee I was drinking as long as I had it. I would get a cup from the corner deli and fill it with what seemed like more cream than coffee. But as I get older and my passion for coffee grows I can't help but learn some really key things from my father.
One coffee that isn't Organic can be full of chemicals and pesticides which can reek havoc on ones health.
Two most flavored coffees are full of sugar and chemicals artificial sweeteners and flavors.
Three some coffee companies burn their coffees while roasting intentionally to give it a uniform tase.

My Father & his Coffee
My Father & his Coffee
My father is quite the character. He has always been a man of many adventures. When I was born he was a Sergeant in the NYPD.
Growing up I was always fascinated by all of his stories of being a cop. You really couldn't begin to imagine the crazy things that become quite routine as a cop in NY.
Routine Patrol Coffee |
One of my favorites is perfect for the holidays lol. I'll tell it they way I remember it being told. My dad was responding to a domestic disturbance call on Thanksgiving, he comes into the apartment where a husband and wife are arguing quite loudly and dramatically. The husband ends up deciding to just go but not before picking up the entire turkey and putting it under his arm and carting it off toward the door. My father sees the look on the kids faces who are quietly watching all of this drama going on, patiently waiting to eat at the table. So my father talks the guy into leaving the legs for the kids to eat! Man only in NY.
Routine Patrol Organic Coffee |
So after telling all theses stories told throughout the years and getting man looks of shock and lots of laughs my father decided to write them down in his book Routine Patrol. Then he came up with the idea of making his own coffee; Routine Patrol Coffee. His coffee is USDA Organic Colombian Coffee fresh from a Rain-forest in Colombia. It is finely ground and really quite delicious. It really amazes me how all this was inspired by his being a police officer.
So I say try the coffee read the book & have a good laugh!!!
