Organic coffee VS. civet coffee (monkey poop)

Do you like to eat poop? Well if you do, this does not concern you. The world's most expensive coffee these days comes from the Asian Palm Civet which is a monkey. And you thought coffee came from trees? Well, this particular fad of coffee comes from the excrement of the Palm Civet. The process goes like this, the Palm Civet eats the coffee cherries and only partly digests them . Then the coffee farmer comes around and collects the partially digested cherry seeds and uses these to brew coffee. Sound tasty? You can pay up to $350 a pound for this type of coffee and you thought your fancy coffee shop where you have to add your own milk to the coffee was expensive.

What makes Organic coffee organic? To be considered Organic in the US coffee farmers have to use only organic fertilizer. When farmers use organic fertilizer this creates a natural eco-system in which birds find habitat in the trees and in doing so help control the insect population. Another benefit of Organic Coffee is that there are no harmful chemicals absorbed into the beans themselves. Meaning that as a consumer of coffee you won't have any in your cup. Using natural fertilizers helps prevent soil erosion as well as adding nutrients back into the soil. Win-win for mother earth.

It is up to you the consumer to make the choice of which type of coffee you want to put in your mug: poop coffee or organic coffee.

Coffee: A Love Story
By: A Coffee Makers Daughter

Organic Coffee

Coffee Love
It's really hard to put into words my feelings about coffee. It's really like a relationship that started at a very early age and has evolved into a deep love. People who don't drink coffee could never really begin to understand, the love the passion a coffee drinker has toward their coffee. I am the type of person who lays in bed at night drifting to sleep dreaming about waking up to that first cup of fresh brewed coffee. And if your family is like mine that is only the beginning of your coffee intake for the day. We are the type of people who have coffee with breakfast, lunch and dessert. The point is I LOVE COFFEE!!!!

Coffee Percolator

I remember my first cup of coffee like it was yesterday! It was a cold winter morning and I stole a rare moment alone between my mom leaving for work and before having to leave to catch the school bus, it was classic Folgers made in a percolator pot which makes even the worst quality coffee taste good (nothing against Folgers)...the coffee was still hot being in a carafe I poured it into a white and pink early 1990s Corningware cup that matched my mothers dishes, I heaped in probably close to 3 tablespoons of sugar and milk and took the sip that started my love!!

After many years of trying many different coffee brewing methods I've found the French Press to be the best option because it produces such a strong true flavor of your coffee. I love my fathers Routine Patrol coffee specifically the mocha flavor which is aptly called Night Patrol. It is rich and delicious it doesn't have an overpowering flavor like other flavored coffees do. You might think I'm biased but I have tried hundreds of different coffees and this is the one! It's organic too, and you cant beat that!
